Sicily Hotels and B&Bs

Where to stay in Sicily and how to choose the best accommodation

Sicily has a good choice of hotels and B&Bs nowadays, from luxury resort hotels to stylish new bed and breakfast accommodation. If you shop around, you can usually find some very good-value places to stay. Throughout the Sicily destination pages on Italy Heaven, I’ve provided recommendations and lists of good hotels and B&Bs. I would always recommend reading the guest reviews provided on the hotel booking pages, checking the most recent ones for an up-to-date report. Hotels in Sicily vary from the luxury honeymoon hotels of Taormina to business-like city hotels in Palermo. Occasionally you may come across large, oddly empty hotels which appear to have had a mysteriously large amount of money spent on them … it’s probably best not ask any further. As elsewhere in Europe, the advent of online reviews has really forced Sicilian hotels to raise their standards. Some are still a bit faceless and nonchalantly run, but a friendly approach to the staff generally pays off.

Sicilian B&Bs can be really wonderful: welcoming, comfortable, well-run by friendly hosts and often better than hotels. They will frequently be in good historic-centre locations, or perhaps right out in the peaceful countryside. Often you will find freshly-squeezed orange juice and moist home-made cakes on the breakfast table. However, as well as those with a flair for hospitality, obviously some less-reputable hosts also set up B&Bs. I’d recommend booking only B&Bs which have a significant number of good reviews.

Through my Sicily destination pages you’ll find a selection of Sicily hotels and B&Bs which I have visited, reviewed and can recommend. These may date back some years, so always check against the latest online reviews when booking
