Amalfi Hotels: Reviews and Bookings

Amalfi hotels – our selection of recommended places to stay, with online booking and guest reviews

If you’re looking for Amalfi hotels you may be daunted by the knowledge that the Amalfi Coast is home to some of Italy’s most luxurious and expensive places to stay. Several of the smartest Amalfi Coast hotels are indeed in the little town of Amalfi, but if you’re planning a stay in the town you’ll be pleased to find a good range of accommodation here, including cheaper places for budget holidaymakers. If you’re travelling without a car, Amalfi makes a good central base for seeing the area. You’ll be able to travel around by bus and boat, and you won’t have to lug your luggage too far on arrival and departure.

Selected Amalfi hotels and B&Bs

Hotel Floridiana, Amalfi

Hotel Floridiana ***

The Hotel Floridiana in Amalfi is a small 3-star hotel in the little historic centre of Amalfi. Don’t expect sea views as it’s right in the village heart hidden among Amalfi’s picturesque stairways and alleys. The hotel has rave reviews from past guests – it is just about the most praised hotel on the coast – who appreciated the welcoming hostess and staff, assistance with trips and loans of maps and guides, and the good breakfasts in a frescoed breakfast room. Book well ahead as there are only a few rooms.

Hotel l'Antico Convitto, Amalfi

L’Antico Convitto ***

L’Antico Convitto is another three-star hotel with comfortable rooms (just ten of them) in the historic lanes of Amalfi. It offers good modern features like wireless internet access and air-conditioning and a range of room types including junior suites and family rooms with cooking facilities. It’s on the fourth floor of the building, with a little lift.

Residenza del Duca, Amalfi

Residenza del Duca

A ‘residence’ – more like a B&B than a full-facility hotel, the Residenza del Duca has been a big hit with visitors to Amalfi for several years now. It offers good and relatively cheap accommodation in the centre of Amalfi, in a historic building with an ideal location just off Piazza del Duomo, although you must be prepared to climb a lot of steps.

Hotel Miramalfi ****

The four-star Miramalfi is one of the rare Amalfi hotels to have a pool and also sea access. The hotel, which is up a hill from the town, has good views, terraces above the sea and an outdoor pool. Compared with the cheaper town-centre options listed here, this is a much more ‘seasidey’ hotel.

Hotel Il Nido, Amalfi

Il Nido ***

A fairly small, decent three-star hotel about 10-20 minutes walk uphill from the centre of town. Rooms have balconies overlooking the sea. The prices are generally pretty good for a hotel of this category, but the walk to and from town will put off some travellers.

Amalfi Hotel, Amalfi

Hotel Amalfi ***

A family-run three-star hotel, the Amalfi is centrally-located and is a popular choice for travellers wanting to be careful with their budget. It has a nice roof terrace. Perhaps not the most special or romantic place to stay – but still a good hotel and one of Amalfi’s more affordable options.

Hotel Fontana, Amalfi

Hotel Fontana ***

This is a popular option and seems to have come up in the world since we stayed there a few years ago. Then it had two stars, no air conditioning and we found it noisy though convenient. It is located between the main road junction in front of the sea and the town’s central square, Piazza del Duomo. The hotel is still rather basic but has good prices, especially considering some rooms have sea views.

Residenza Luce, Amalfi

Residenza Luce

With just five rooms, the Residenza Luce B&B offers hotel-standard accommodation with thoughtful services like free wireless internet. The rooms reflect the local style – whitewashed, tiled floors – but also have smart modern touches which set the property apart, such as the mezzanine sleeping areas which will appeal to some guests, but may deter others.
