Turin's hotels cater mostly for a business clientele, which means that holidaymakers may find the city's hotels rather expensive and bland. Cheaper options are concentrated in the rather unappealing area south-east of the main railway station. Although there are some good deals to be had, lone travellers may be more comfortable paying a bit extra to stay in a central or business-oriented hotel, like those of the Jolly Hotels chain.

Jolly Hotel Ligure ****

Part of the reliable Italian Jolly Hotels chain, the Jolly Hotel Ligure is ideally-located in front of Porta Nuova railway station. Overlooking the central piazza, the hotel is large and comfortable, making up in efficiency for what it lacks in atmosphere. As well as being useful for public transport, the hotel is only a short walk from Piazza Castello and the historic centre of Turin. We stayed here for a couple of nights and found the hotel practical for sightseeing and travel with obliging staff.
