Taormina is a fairly expensive place to stay but shopping around in advance can find you some affordable accommodation options - especially if you avoid the peak summer season. Cheaper accommodation may not offer much in the way of breakfast, or of pleasant areas for relaxing, but the town itself has plenty of bars and public spaces to compensate. You should be sure to book in advance though, as Taormina is small and popular, and accommodation can fill up. San Domenico Palace*****This is THE smart hotel in Taormina, the place where all those glamorous celebrity visitors have stayed. Everything about the place is special: the historic buildings (a former monastery), the beautiful garden terraces, the swimming pool, the facilities and the service. If you want to splash money on a luxury
stay, this is the place to do it.
Hotel Villa Ducale***It is only categorised as a three-star, but the Villa Ducale is a luxurious place to stay, with excellent reviews from past guests. It's a little way out of town, based in a splendid villa with superb views towards Etna.
Hotel Soleado**The two-star Soleado is not far from the centre of town. It offers good value for money with comfortable well-appointed rooms.
Hotel Condor**A popular and affordable two-star option, the family-run Condor is a short walk from the heart of town. Breakfast is served on a roof-with-a-view.
