Taormina hotels
Taormina is one of Italy's smartest tourist destinations, with hotels to match. There are plenty of opportunities for basking in luxury, but finding cheap accommodation requires a bit more work.
Taormina is a fairly expensive place to stay but shopping around in advance can find you some affordable accommodation options - especially if you avoid the peak summer season. Cheaper accommodation may not offer much in the way of breakfast, or of pleasant areas for relaxing, but the town itself has plenty of bars and public spaces to compensate. You should be sure to book in advance though, as Taormina is small and popular, and accommodation can fill up. If you have a car, check ahead as parking is hard to come by, and even hotels with parking spaces may charge you extra.
Taormina is on a steep slope high above the sea, and the hotels in the area fall into two categories: beach hotels down at sea level outside the town, and more central hotels better-suited for sightseeing and pottering the streets. Your choice of hotel may depend on the type of holiday you are planning, and whether you have a hire car.

Panoramic Hotel is a modern, professionally-run four-star hotel near the beach, with views over Isola Bella. Taormina can be reached using the cable-car nearby. The hotel is a practical place to stay, with lovely views, although it is near a busy road. It is highly-rated by past guests.

Atahotel Capotaormina
Another seaside four-star hotel, the Capotaormina has a swimming pool built into the rock, and a small private beach accessed by a lift inside the cliff. It's a picturesque place to stay and relax, with terraces, balconies and views towards Etna. Guests praise the walk-in closets. The hotel has a shuttle bus operating a few times a day up to Taormina (not always sufficient for guests). A good place to stay if you want to be by the sea.

Hotel Imperiale
Hotel Imperiale is a very modern five-star hotel near the centre of Taormina. It has an up-to-date luxury style and facilities including a spa, wellness centre and swimming pool. The hotel lacks the historic character of the San Domenico Palace, but it has a range of room prices and offers, making it generally more affordable, and the efficient modernity may suit some travellers better.
