Capri Hotels> Capri tourist and travel information If you're on a tight budget, the best advice is simply not to stay on Capri. Everything on the island is expensive, and the hotels tend to cater for the most well-heeled of holidaymakers. Even the
cheap options are many times what you will pay on the mainland. But if you want to splash out on a bit of pampering, a holiday to remember, or simply to enjoy the calm of Capri after the daytrippers leave, take a deep breath, check your savings and try some of the hotel options below.
Note that you can make big savings if you opt for a room without a balcony, or minus a sea view. And Anacapri, the quieter town, generally offers slightly better value for money. The good news is that Capri hotels seem to have improved dramatically in the last few years - largely thanks to internet reviewing. Hotels in this exclusive destination can charge whatever they want and the market was controlled by the hoteliers, leading to issues of rude service and unhelpfulness - some of the worst reviews we've seen were of expensive Capri four and five-star hotels. Now that guests can compare notes online, the standards seem to have risen to a point where most guests have nothing but praise for their hotels. All of our hotel links below will lead you to reviews where you can check recent opinions - and after your stay, you can add your own. Recommended accommodation in Capri, Marina Grande and Marina Piccola
Hotel Weber Ambassador ****Down by the sea in Marina Piccola, this efficient four-star hotel doesn't have quite the same charming atmosphere as the little whitewashed hotels of Capri town, but it does have spectacularly good views and attentive customer service as well as very competitive prices. > Read our review of a weekend spent at the hotel
Hotel 'A Paziella ****This is a very typical and tranquil four-star hotel in Capri town. The location is practical, the customer service is excellent and prices are relatively good value (for Capri town). The hotel has a small leafy garden and use of the swimming pool at the neighbouring Hotel Syrene. > Read our review of two nights spent at the hotel
Punta Tragara *****One of Capri's smart five-star hotels, the Punta Tragara on the headland of the same name, right above the Faraglioni rocks. It's a picturesque 10-minute walk out of Capri town, along a bouganvillea-decorated path which passes some of the town's other five-stars. The hotel has forty-three rooms and two swimming pools. A romantic place to stay in a memorable location.
Hotel La Canasta ***Excellent reviews for this small and friendly three-star hotel in Capri town. La Canasta is cheap in comparison with other Capri hotels, and it has the big advantage of outdoors swimming pool as well as garden terraces.
JW Marriott Capri Tiberio Palace Resort & Spa *****It's an unwieldy name, but the Tiberio Palace is a slick five-star hotel a few minutes' walk uphill from the centre of Capri town. It has a swimming pool and spacious bedrooms, though not all rooms have a view.
Hotel La Palma ****Hotel La Palma is one of the most 'typical' of Capri hotels. Right in the heart of town, it is an elegant building in the local style with white arches and a terrace where you can watch the world go by. Note that although there are pleasant public spaces, there is no swimming pool.

Relais Maresca ****Relais Maresca is one of the few hotels located near the port at Marina Grande. It's a very reliable and popular option, although the location won't suit everyone. Its position by the port is handy for arrival and departure, and for boat trips around the island. However Marina Grande gets very busy with tourists and traffic (boats and cars), and to reach Capri town you will have to catch the funicular, bus or a taxi.

Hotel La Floridiana ****La Floridiana is another central four-star hotel among the pedestrian lanes of Capri town. It's a decent place to stay, although it doesn't have anything particularly special and lacks a pool.

Hotel Syrene ****A pleasant Best Western Hotel, the Syrene is on Via Camerelle, Capri's smartest shopping street: an elegant pedestrian lane lined with expensive boutiques. The hotel has a nice outdoors swimming pool, alongside a shady lemon grove-terrace, with sun-loungers and an adjacent sun terrace. We used the pool when staying at the adjacent hotel; in July it had a family atmosphere. > Hotel Syrene: more information / make a booking
Hotel La Tosca, Capri Town *We've stayed twice at this one-star Capri hotel (2003 and 2004), and we'd recommend La Tosca as a good budget option. Prices are higher than an average one-star hotel, but so is the standard of accommodation. Clean, friendly and welcoming, with air-conditioning, ensuite facilities and a sunny breakfast terrace with terrific views of the Faraglioni. Request a room with a view - but book well in advance. Perfect English is spoken. Email: h.tosca@capri.it. > See our recommended hotels in quieter Anacapri, at the higher end of the island |
