Ischia HotelsMany of Ischia's hotels are in the higher categories, marketing themselves as resorts or wellness centres, with their own thermal pools and spa treatments. Consequently, prices can be steep, especially in the busy summer months. It's worth deciding your priorities and preferred location in advance, then shopping around and booking well ahead. > Search a wider range of hotels in Ischia
*** Hotel Europa, Ischia Ponte - RECOMMENDEDThe Hotel Europa is a comfortable and unpretentious establishment on the road connecting Ischia Ponte and Ischia Porto (the number 7 bus, connecting the two settlements, stops close by). The hotel has a panoramic terrace on the roof for sunbathing, a small pool of strange-coloured water from natural thermal springs, and can arrange massages and other treatments. We stayed here for two nights in July 2004, and would recommend both the location and the hotel itself. Rooms are clean and comfortable and there is a fair range of foods for breakfast, including delicious cakes. The hotel caters mostly for Italian, German and then English-speaking guests - on our arrival we were offered a useful tourist information pack in the appropriate language. Interesting-looking tours and boat trips are organised. Prices are very reasonable, and the hotel is only a short walk from the heart of Ischia Ponte. The only drawback in the summer is that rooms have ceiling fans rather than air-conditioning. Still, the hotel is very good value for money and we'd recommend it highly. ***** Hotel Mezzatorre Resort & SpaPossibly Ischia's finest five-star hotel, with prices to match. Located outside Lacco Ameno, the hotel is a 16th-century tower, close to a castle formerly owned by the film director Luchino Visconti.
