Accommodation in Turin
Although the choice is improving, Turin’s hotels have traditionally catered mostly for a business clientele, which means that holidaymakers may find the city’s hotels rather expensive and bland; they tend to be smart four-stars aimed at business travellers. Of course, this does also mean a lot of competition at less busy times, as well as high international standards. Cheaper options are concentrated in the rather unappealing area south-east of the main railway station. Although there are some good deals to be had, lone travellers may be more comfortable paying a bit extra to stay in a central or business-oriented hotel – the places I’ve selected below are, with few exceptions, in or close to the central historic and sightseeing area.
Like most Italian destinations, Turin now also offers bed and breakfast options, ranging from small family-home B&Bs outside the centre for travellers on a budget, to central boutique-style establishments. One feature of accommodation in Turin which differs from other cities is the popularity of rental apartments, and aparthotels. If you are interested in settling into life in the city in an independent apartment with cooking facilities, you’ll find a wide and impressive selection to choose from.
Hotel Principi di Piemonte
The Principi di Piemonte is a very smart and comfortable five-star hotel with spa facilities, situated between the railway station and the main historic sights of Turin. With reasonably affordable prices, it’s a popular option in a convenient location for both travel and sightseeing.
Modern rooms and suites in the historic centre with a clean, stylish look – including comfortable single rooms as well as doubles.
Turin Palace Hotel
A popular four-star right next to Porta Nuova railway station, this is a practical hotel for travellers and another smart, modern place to stay.
The one-star Abanyta has decent en-suite rooms, favourable guest reviews and a convenient central location, making it a good-value choice for travellers on a budget.
There are quite a few holiday apartments for rent in Turin as an alternative to a hotel stay (for more, use the link at the foot of the page). Loger Confort, an aparthotel, offers the best of both worlds: an independent stay with self-catering facilities, combined with the advantages of helpful on-site staff and daily cleaning, and all in a good central location.
Another popular and well-reviewed aparthotel in a central location, the Residenza dell’Opera offers good value for money, with a choice of 11 rooms and apartments, some with rooftop views.
B&B Torino Très Chic
With three stylish bedrooms and a shared kitchen, this is a popular bed and breakfast option in the historic centre.
B&B Terres d’Aventure Suites
Eight comfortable modern rooms in a historic building, with a central location and good facilities, makes this another popular choice for bed and breakfast accommodation.
Tomato Backpackers Hotel
This bright modern hotel-cum-hostel is located several streets to the south-east of Porta Nuova station, and is one of the cheapest options in town, offering a choice of private rooms or beds in dormitories.
