The poshest hotel in Santa Margherita Ligure, the Imperiale Palace is close to the sea at the quieter end of town, not far from the railway station. It offers a taste of old-fashioned elegance, and makes a good destination for a special olde-worlde seaside holiday. The hotel's amenities include an attractive swimming pool and gardens and more modern features like flat-screen TVs and a wellness centre.

Hotel Continental ****The Hotel Continental is a four-star hotel with a private beach establishment, along the seafront close to the station. The surroundings are pleasant, but choose a sea-view room rather than the cheaper ones on the noisier street side of the building.

Hotel Regina Elena ****This large Best Western hotel is quite a cheap option for a four-star, and it has what you need for a seaside holiday: a small rooftop pool, a private beach and good sea views. It is a bit of a walk into town.
